Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

BJJ is a self defence system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by Mitsuyo Maeda.

BJJ promotes the  concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and choking techniques to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defence.

Our BJJ program and classes are run by highly respected Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4th degree black belt Gustavo Falciroli and assisted by BJJ Black Belt Daniel Kelly.

Gustavo started his training in 1996 in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Paulo Roberto de Miranda Streckert and has also trained with Carlos Alberto Liberi, in 2003 he was awarded his black belt by Roberto Tozi and Roberto Godoi.

Gustavo is also the AFBJJ National Head Referee and a professional MMA fighter with over 26 fights.

BJJ Gi an No Gi  classes are provided for Adults of all skill levels and an open mat session is available to do personal development as well as Private Classes on request.

Resilience Training Centre has international standard mats and a sprung floor for takedowns and full change room facilities for early morning classes.
